Applications

A dip tube is a long, thin tube that is used in some types of fire extinguishers to help draw the extinguishing agent out of the extinguisher and into the nozzle or hose. The dip tube is typically located inside the extinguisher and extends from the bottom of the extinguisher to the nozzle or hose. When the fire extinguisher is activated, the pressure inside the extinguisher forces the extinguishing agent up through the dip tube and out of the nozzle or hose, where it can be directed at the base of the fire. Dip tubes are used in many types of fire extinguishers, including powder, water, foam, and CO2 extinguishers, to help ensure that the extinguishing agent is delivered effectively and efficiently.
